Bethany Merritt is a jazz vocalist and educator based in Nashville, Tennessee. Her smooth song styling is full of nuance - pure yet commanding. Bethany can frequently be seen performing at Nashville’s premiere jazz venues, such as Rudy’s Jazz Room and the Nashville Jazz Workshop with her quartet and with the Ryan Middagh Jazz Orchestra. Bethany is an Adjunct Faculty member at Belmont University, Lipscomb University and Nashville State Community College, where she directs the commercial vocal ensemble Company, the NSCC Vocal Jazz ensemble, and teaches private voice lessons.

 

After earning her Bachelor’s in Commercial Music with an emphasis in Performance from Belmont University, Bethany began working on Mackinac Island, Michigan as the vocalist at the Grand Hotel. There, she fronted the Grand Hotel Jazz Orchestra nightly. In May of 2017, Bethany earned her Masters of Music in Jazz Performance as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, where she studied with Kerry Marsh and Julia Dollison. As a back-up vocalist, Bethany has shared the stage with Sara Bareilles, The New York Voices, Hans Zimmer, Ben Folds, Josh Groban, and Aubrey Logan.
