An Oklahoma native, Bethany Merritt expanded on her musical upbringing with classical and commercial vocal training at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. After earning her Bachelor’s in Commercial Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance, Bethany began working on Mackinac Island, Michigan as the vocalist at the Grand Hotel. There, she fronted a band nightly, performing a wide variety of music while honing her speciality in jazz. In May of 2017, Bethany earned her Masters of Music in Jazz Performance as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, studying with Julia Dollison and Kerry Marsh. Bethany now lives in Nashville, where she is an Adjunct Instructor of Music at Nashville State Community College, teaching private voice lessons and directing their vocal jazz ensemble.
